Toro Ailing

Add a new name to the long list of Torino players unavailable for Saturday's match at the Artemio Franchi.  Add Recoba's name (Yeah, I know.  Who woulda thunk it) to Torino's long queue that will miss out on the fun.

Zanetti DQ'd For Viola Match

Disciplinary Committee: Cristiano Zanetti Disqualified

These are the rulings of the Disciplinary Committee ahead of the next round of Serie A matches.  There are no disqualifications or amendments for FiorentinaJuventus, on the other hand, should be without Cristiano Zanetti.  Below are the disqualifications.

  • 2 Matches --- Modesto (Reggina)
  • 1 Match --- Caserta (Palermo)
  • 1 Match --- Giuly (Roma)
  • 1 Match --- Loviso (Livorno)
  • 1 Match --- Blasi (Napoli)
  • 1 Match --- Doni (Atalanta)
  • 1 Match --- Zanetti (Juventus)
  • 1 Match --- Orsi (Livorno coach)

My take -- Am I the only one who thought Pasquale was intending to maim on Saturday?  Zanetti's getting off easy...  Death row reprieve...  We would have worked that guy.

No Excuses For The White-Green Army

Groningen: Only Mathijs Absent; Berg returns

All are available, minus the captain Mathijs who remains doubtful, for Groningen looking ahead to Thursday's UEFA Cup match. It's believed that the leading goal-scorer, Berg, will return and could be paired with Nevland, the Norwegian battering ram.

My take -- No excuses for us, either.  Again, I would really like to see Vanden Borre make his Viola debut in the second half.  I'm not hopeful, though.

Iaquinta Will Be Fit

Juventus: Iaquinta to recover for Firenze

Ranieri has given a day off to his squad which will recommence training Tuesday afternoon at Vinovo.  Iaquinta should return to practice in the coming days and there is a high probability that the Juventus attacker will be available in time for the Fiorentina match.

Nothing can be done for the other injured Juventini...

  • Camoranesi -- At least another 25 days
  • Marchionni -- 1 month
  • Buomsong -- 40 days
  • Andrade -- 5 months

My take -- Too bad about Buomsong...  I kid, I kid...  Anyway, even with all of the injuries this side is still a heck of a lot better than the Parma side Ranieri embarrassed us with last season.  Of course, the Franchi is a far cry from the Tardini.
