Mutu Bears All
Mutu Show: All the details of the Romanian reality show
As previously reported by FirenzeViola, Adrian Mutu has signed a contract with a Romanian production firm for the realization of a reality show. The show will be produced by William MacDonald (producer of HBO's Rome) and directed by John Daily. The program will be aired in Romania, Italia, the United States and Latin America <<Mutu's lady is Dominican>> and Mutu will receive $2M. Mutu's business partner, Ana Maria Prodan <<click on her name. I dunno but she just doesn't scream 'business partner' to me>>, has been the intermediary in realizing the deal.
A television camera will follow all of the movements of Mutu and his loved ones; their private lives and what happens leading up to his matches. According to the contract the camera will not enter their bedroom. "I'm flattered by the interest," declared the Romanian champion. "As a public personality I have certain responsibilities and this project motivates me."
Romanian producer Marius Daniel Popa arrived in Firenze Sunday to go over the final details with Mutu. "Mutu Show" will kick off in September and will include 30-minute weekday episodes while the Saturday episodes will be an hour in length. Its first incarnation is expected to last for around 3 months.
The show has set off an intense bidding war in Romania with Pro TV and Antena1 the two front runners in the battle for broadcast rights.
My take -- I have said before that popular sports figures have so many ways of making money with their own 'brand' that they do not need large contracts; I'm not so sure that I am so high on this. Mutu is clearly our most important player going into this season and I really would like him to remain focused.

I'm not too happy about that all...

I haven't seen Rome. Not really even sure why I have HBO now that the Sopranos is over. I know I read somewher that Consuelo is Dominican.

Actually, if I recall correctly, his current wife is the Dominican dancer Consuelo, mother to little Adriana. :)
And totally OT, i just noticed on imdb.com that William MacDonald is one of the co-writers of Rome as well, awesome TV-series.

Oh, and I could easily be wrong, but I think that, while his first wife was Latin American, his current one is actually Romanian.

If I'm not mistaken, the "business partner" is the sketchy new agent Mutu picked up after he got rid of those brothers of corruption who so recently screwed Chivu over. At least the current sleazebag is good-looking.
