Frey: "I want to win at least one trophy."
He has allowed but one goal in the preseason friendlies and his injury of a year ago is well behind him. Sebastien Frey is armed and ready. "I plan to be the best," the French keeper-extraordinaire declared, "but there remains room for improvement. In Firenze you have seen a good Frey but I don't intend to stop, even if it is hard being that the world's greatest goalkeepers play in Italia. His thoughts turn inevitably towards the French national team, "I will probably be on the bench in Milano. I probably still have a long way to go to get my debut but this is an important step. The match with Italia will be an important challenge as the defeat in Berlin still burns us. I was not a part of it but never forget that I am a Bleu even if I owe all, or almost all, to Italia."
Back on the topic of Fiorentina, Frey spoke freely of the new arrivals. "Vanden Borre has incredible power and speed and he pushes down the flank with great natural ability. I am struck by Balzaretti's humanity. He's already a locker room leader. More than any other, however, I am impressed by Vieri. A champion of his caliber, so quick to engage whomever in conversation, is a real rarity." The Savoyard goalkeeper makes no secret of his own plans in the Viola shirt. "We are playing in three competitions. I am not resting on my laurels. I want to win a trophy."
